and whining... Petrified of

taking on a couch mere feet
from where he is. However, he
none-the-less sits motionless
and whining... Petrified of
even attempting to descend the
two steps down from the wooden
pool deck to the sandy patch
where the sofa holding that
lunch-time treasure he so
desires lay in wait!!! He
instead turns around making a
complete about face, running a
perfect loop all the way
around the perimeter of the
pool of my beach house out on
Fire Island Pines, New York!
Ending up a couple of feet
FURTHER away from the sandwich
than spot where he had started
out from!Funny still, he
repeated this exact same
counter-clockwise lap around
the pool about six times: each
and every time I called his
name! That is why I was able
to replicate and capture it so
perfectly! Strangest of all,
however, for the rest of that
summer (of 2007) he refused to
go up and/or down those two
steps; the same two steps
which for the past seven
seasons he had used
comfortably, confidently and
on his own accord without
incident!!
