I clipped it (using a terribly crappy video-editing app, sorry), as I found it inspirational in..not beating my depression, but at least getting through each day. Ray has had to endure the worst kind of trauma.
Breakups, lack of relationships or friendships, no money, no job, and feeling low are usual problems that most of the world has at one time or another. They are mundane, but above all, they are resolvable.
Breakups: hard, but in a relationship, someone either leaves or dies. Only those outcomes. The concept of 'divorce' and 'separation' are old. Some never experience a relationship and die in isolation. You've had what some only dream of.
Lack of money/job: Do you actually know many rich people? This is resolvable by retraining, new job, back loan, career's advice. Im not saying 'cured', but there are outlets to help.
But certain things, like, mental disabilities, physical trauma and disfigurement, bereavement cannot be fixed. They are life-stopping, and isolating.
Sorry to be insensitive and umempathetic, but Melinda Messenger's husband, 3 healthy kids, home, riches, ...and depression makes my blood boil. She says 'What has she got to be depressed about?' and I say that too! Im not saying she WASN'T depressed, but she had f-ck-all to depress her. Her life is what many dream of.
Don't feed me this 'depression can affect anyone'. It can. I know. But many are depressed with SUPERIOR QUALITY lives. Telling your girlfriend/wife/husband/boyfri end/lover 'I'm depressed', after leaving your luxurious house to go on holiday (vacation) bringing your kids and car along, is different from sitting on your own where no-one would even notice if you died.
Some consider themselves depressed if they are 'sad' from month to month. I'm talking about major depression. And not bipolar 'high highs, low lows' either. Bipolar people at least have highs. Major depressed people just have the lows.
